In scanning some of our favorite blogs this week, we came across an entry at My Life Scoop that got us thinking.
The theme was “Tiny Tech” — gadgets that fit in the palm of your hand. Upon going through the author’s chosen mini-mechanisms, we realized some would be great for the on-the-go freelancer / small business owner; because a more portable you = a more portable/accessible business!
Check them out (our highlights are in blue with our own commentary beneath):
1) Solar Power Keychain Charger - $29
What a great idea! Collect energy for free on the go!
2) Mini speaker – $11.99
For those of you sharing video or music off your laptop with current or prospective clients, this is a wonderful gadget — a sleek, compact, affordable way to better showcase your work.
3) Handheld video camera – $23.33
4) Wide-angle lens – $20-$49
5) Android device/watch – $199
1) Gadget keychain - $24
At The Task Runners we have a slight obsession with being prepared. This little guy is not only functional but a lot cuter than your average portable multi-tool (so sue us if we like to look neat while making our clients look awesome!)
2) Mini digital camera – $179
3) iPhone keyboard – $29
4) Tiny printer – $TBA (pre-order only)
It’s no wonder this tiny gadget is getting all this hype! Portability as a freelancer is key and we can’t wait to learn more about this product!
5) Headphone keychain splitter – $9.99
A mini stroke of genius to put a splitter on a keychan. Let’s say you’re meeting with a client or colleague in a public place and need to view/listen to some media. Plug this sucker in and you’ve each got your own headphone jack. This is also great for traveling with friends/family (when two people might like to watch the same film at once on a laptop or iPad)
In a similar vein to many of these products, we also suggest a USB splitter/hub – $9 – $30. These are super handy in the event that you’ve got multiple external drives or gadgets to hook up to your laptop at once.
And, in case you didn’t see last week’s blog entry, consider using some Gear Ties to help keep your cabling organized en route! We seriously can’t recommend them enough.
